The Rams were quiet in their impromptu primetime matchup Tuesday against the Seahawks, taking over a half to really get rolling. Sony Michel ended up being a difference-maker, picking up 92 yards on 18 carries. Michel has emerged as a strong component of the Los Angeles offense, and he’s given them another dimension in the running game. Cooper Kupp was who he’s been all year, notching another nine catches for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns as he continues to be impossible to cover.
Los Angeles has a golden opportunity this week, as the Cardinals try to process their loss to the Lions with a game against the always-tough Colts. There hasn’t been a point since Week 3 that the NFC West has felt more attainable for them, so now would be the ideal time to strike. Of course that’s easier said than done, particularly against a team as temperamental as Minnesota.
Unfortunately for the Vikings, the Rams do play the run extremely well. That means that the onus could well fall on Kirk Cousins to be the difference-maker in this game. That’s no mean feat when Aaron Donald is lining up opposite your offensive line, but the Vikings need to keep winning. They have arguably the hardest schedule of any of the teams still in the NFC picture, and it won’t get easier next week against the Packers at Lambeau Field. Every game is key now, and expect Minnesota’s play on Sunday to reflect that.
