The Steelers are staring down the possibility of their worst six-game start to a season since 1988 as they aim to snap a four-game losing streak. After the defense melted down in a 38-3 loss to the Bills, rookie Kenny Pickett faces another difficult task in his first home start.

Plenty has changed since the last time these two teams met in 2018. Ryan Fitzpatrick and Ben Roethlisberger were the starting quarterbacks, and Dirk Koetter coached the Buccaneers. Still, Brady has plenty of familiarity with the Steelers. He’s 12-3 against Pittsburgh in his career, including 8-2 against Mike Tomlin.

In all likelihood, defense will win this game. The Buccaneers are sixth in the NFL in both points and yards allowed, and they have leaned heavily on their defense in all three of their wins this season. The Steelers, on the other hand, have stumbled defensively without T.J. Watt but will face a Tampa offense that ranks below league average in points and yards.

With the group mostly healthy, the Buccaneers could use this opportunity to finally jumpstart their offense.

Only three teams since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 have made the playoffs after a 1-5 start. This has a must-win feel for the Steelers, who have to face the undefeated Eagles later this month.
