With nothing officially confirmed, it is difficult to know with certainty what is going on at the studio. Furthermore, Kojima is fond of springing surprises on gamers. Nevertheless, gamers waiting for the Xbox game shouldn’t expect it to come anytime soon.

Death Stranding 2’s Release Date Allegedly Leaked
When Death Stranding was released in 2019, gamers were treated to yet another eccentric experience from Kojima. This time around, gamers were tasked with making deliveries in a post-apocalyptic version of America and uniting people from their isolated living. The game features many confusing elements, including Beached Things that attempt to drag Sam Bridges to the realm of the dead, and pre-born babies called BBs that can sense the presence of the Beached Things, linking birth with death. It has been confirmed that gamers will get to enjoy more of Death Stranding’s world, as a reveal trailer for the sequel was shown at The Game Awards 2022.
Not much is known about the upcoming game yet, though the trailer shows an infant version of Lou being rescued by Fragile, as well a much older version of Sam. Fragile also informs Sam that she is going to introduce him to her people, and a machine is seen emerging from a large body of water. As has been revealed by past teasers from Kojima Productions, Elle Fanning and Deadpool 2 actress Shioli Kutsuna will be making an appearance in the upcoming game. Thus far, it has only been confirmed for PS5.
Kojima Productions has yet to say anything regarding Death Stranding 2’s release date. However, some gamers think they have the game’s release window figured out. On the ArtStation page of Frank Aliberti, who is a senior artist at PlayStation Studios Visual Arts, Death Stranding 2 was listed with a release window of 2024. The information has since been taken down, but the internet never forgets. If the release window of 2024 is accurate, it could have major implications for the studio’s Xbox game.
Kojima Productions’ Xbox Cloud Game Could Be a While Away
Death Stranding isn’t the only thing Kojima Production has its sights on. Earlier this year, Kojima revealed that the studio has teamed up with Microsoft to create an Xbox game that will utilize cloud technology. This kind of technology has already been used in games such as Flight Simulator, but it is quite difficult to imagine what Kojima has in mind. Thus far, there has not been much official information regarding the game, though journalist Tom Henderson claims he has seen a snippet of the game. According to Henderson, it is a horror game titled Overdose, and it features Margaret Qualley who is also seen in Death Stranding.
If the Death Stranding 2 release window of 2024 is true, it may be a very long time before gamers see more of the upcoming Xbox and Kojima Productions game. This should not come as too much of a surprise, however, as the game does not even have a title yet. Furthermore, during his announcement of the game, Kojima did admit that “it may take some time.” Nevertheless, it is a game he is excited about and has been dreaming of making for a long time.
For gamers who are eager to see more of this mysterious Xbox game, it seems the wait will be quite an extended one. It may be worth it, as Kojima has made grand claims about it, stating that it is “almost like a new medium.” With the freedom that he now has with his studio, it will be interesting to see what kind of ideas he is readying himself to unleash on the gaming world.
Death Stranding 2 is currently in development.
