The Spanish crime drama certainly ended on a high, and while the show will not be back (at least in its current form) there were some surprising moments that left fans with questions they needed answers to.
One such plotline is related to Berlin’s son Rafael (Patrick Criado) and his role in the gang’s heist in the Bank of Spain.

What did The Professor’s note to Rafael say?
For the majority of Season 5, Rafael is only seen in the flashbacks about his father Berlin (Pedro Alonso), in which the pair embark on their own heists.
This culminates in Rafael running off with Berlin’s fifth wife Tatiana (Diana Gómez) after they fell in love with each other.
That seemed to be the end of the character’s journey, until the gang’s stolen gold was stolen from them in turn… by Rafael and Tatiana.
Rafael and Tatiana had it all planned out, they knew exactly where to find the gold and dressed as police to trick The Professor (Álvaro Morte) and his crew into surrendering, and locked them in a fake police van.
The duo then hid the gold by burying it in a big hole and covering it with a house and decorating the land around it to make it appear as if it had been there for years, instead of mere minutes.
On The Professor’s request, Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri) goes out looking for the gold and eventually discovers the house that Rafael and Tatiana had buried it under, and the trio, and their crew, end up in a tense stand-off.
This stand-off is called off when Alicia gives Rafael a note from The Professor, which convinces him that it is best to hand over the gold and work with the gang of thieves, rather than against them.
When Tatiana questions his decision, Rafael tells her it is a “family matter” and leaves things at that.
Prior to the scene where he is given the note, the show shares one last flashback with Rafael, Berlin and The Professor, in which the latter explains to his nephew what happened to his grandfather.
Explaining how he witnessed his father being gunned down outside a bank following a botched robbery, The Professor tells Rafael: “When you ask me why I choose to plan the heists, the answer is simple. To talk to him.”
The note The Professor wrote for his nephew is never shown to viewers, but it’s likely that in it he reminds Rafael of that story, and links it to his own father Berlin who died in Season 2 following the gang’s heist in the Royal Mint of Spain.
Money Heist Seasons 1 to 5 is available to stream on Netflix now.
